‘Talks continue’: Fabrizio Romano says one Arsenal transfer deal is ‘dragging’ as season opener approaches

Arsenal have been hoping to move goalkeeper Bernd Leno on this summer but despite interest, they still have the German on their books as things stand.

Despite reports a few weeks back claiming Leno had agreed a contract with Fulham, the stopper is still on the books at Arsenal for now. Of course, he has little chance of playing, with the Gunners having Aaron Ramsdale as number one and bringing in Matt Turner over the summer to deputise.

However, moving on players will be key for Arsenal in the coming weeks. A spend of over £100m again has left them some room to move players on, and with Leno likely to be on a decent wage and wanting out, Edu will be keen on getting this deal over the line.

But according to Fabrizio Romano, there is still nothing in place for Leno to move on from the Gunners, with the transfer guru saying the deal is ‘dragging’.

“The negotiation for Bernd Leno with Fulham has been dragging on for some time. For the moment, talks continue but so far there is still no agreement on the price,” Romano told .

Fulham will be hopeful of concluding a deal for Leno before the big kick off in two weeks. Arsenal, meanwhile, will be very much of the same thinking.

TBR’s View: Arsenal Need To Hurry Up With Leno Deal

The Gunners need to bring some money back into the club after some more major outgoings and they really need to make sure these sorts of deals get over the line.

Leno, too, will need the move sorting. He wants to play and in a way, Arsenal probably owe it to him to make sure this deal is signed off quickly.

The German has done well for Arsenal, but the time has come to move on and the club needs to get this moving ASAP.
