Romano says Bayern are in contact with Tottenham target Djed Spence
Tottenham Hotspur have been dealt a potential blow as they look to sign Djed Spence, with Fabrizio Romano telling that Bayern Munich have now made contact regarding a potential move for the right-back.
Spurs have been linked with Spence for a little while as he continues to impress out on loan with Nottingham Forest. In fact, recent reports claimed that Tottenham are favourites to land the 21-year-old.

A host of sides want the Middlesbrough-owned star. Of course, he has helped Forest put themselves in promotion contention after their awful start to the season. And he has shone for Steve Cooper’s side on their way to the FA Cup quarter-final.
His performance against Arsenal in the competition saw Ian Wright label him ‘‘. So it would be a smart piece of business if Tottenham could sign Spence this summer.

Spurs are reportedly open to letting Emerson Royal leave at the end of the season. And it would appear that there is hope that Spence could come in to rival Matt Doherty.
However, it would appear that Bayern have looked to steal a march on their rivals. Romano suggested the Bavarian giants have already got the ball rolling as they look to take Spence to the Bundesliga.
“His price is around €12/14 million. And I’m told that Bayern are really interested in Spence,” .
“They’re looking for a right-back in the summer, and Spence is one of the main options they have on the list. It’s not agreed, so at the moment, it’s not like there’s negotiations between clubs but they are in contact for this player. They are starting contacts, they are starting discussions.”
Tottenham now missing out on Spence would be tough to take
It will worry some that Bayern want the youngster and have opened contacts. Clearly, they can offer a hugely attractive move to a young player with Spence’s potential.
It will be particularly disappointing for Tottenham if Spence now joins Bayern. That is because Spurs were reportedly just £3 million away from meeting his asking price in January.
For a club like Tottenham, that is a pretty insignificant amount in the market. And Spence would have had to spend the rest of the campaign on loan with Forest anyway having already played for two clubs.
Missing out after coming so close to getting a deal done will not sit well with a lot of Tottenham fans.
