Romano claims Arsenal have now asked Leeds about Raphinha
Fabrizio Romano that Arsenal have now asked about information for Raphinha as they look to rival Barcelona for the Leeds United star.
Raphinha is looking increasingly likely to leave Elland Road this summer. He has enjoyed an amazing season with Leeds. And Barcelona have made a big play to land the ‘unbelievable‘ Brazilian.
Reports have claimed that they have already agreed a five-year deal with the winger. Meanwhile, their latest bid for the Leeds star is worth up to £42.2 million.
For many Whites fans, Raphinha leaving for the Nou Camp may not be the worst outcome. It will be a big blow to sell him to another Premier League side.
But that does not mean that top-flight rivals are not going to try. Romano has now suggested that Arsenal have joined the race for Raphinha amid reports linking the Gunners with Cody Gakpo.
“I can tell you that Arsenal also ask for information about Raphinha of Leeds. We were mentioning him for Barcelona,” .
“Barcelona are leading the race for Raphinha. But also Arsenal ask for information for Raphinha, they are not leading the race. They are looking for that kind of player.
“So Gakpo is a player they are following, but also Raphinha is a player they like. But it’s really complicated because Barcelona are leading the race.”

Arsenal have a devastating group of players who work behind the striker. But it is little surprise that they are looking to bolster their options further ahead of a potential Champions League return.
Raphinha has not always been at his best this season. And yet, he has stepped up massively and scored nine goals. No Arsenal player has found the back of the net more often in the Premier League this season.
It would be a huge statement of intent if Arsenal could now strike a deal for Raphinha. Clearly, they have work to do while Barcelona are in the running. But they must feel that they stand some chance given that they have now made an enquiry.
