Rolando Aarons posts Instagram message after leaving Newcastle, Ivan Toney responds

After nine years at St James’ Park, Rolando Aarons completed a permanent move away from Newcastle United on Thursday to join Championship side Huddersfield Town.

The 25-year-old attacker joined the Toon’s academy back in 2012, before making his senior debut two years later.

But the winger leaves after making just 27 first-team appearances in a Newcastle shirt and his exit comes off the back of five previous loan spells.

Aarons sent a farewell message on after his transfer was announced, which promoted a response from Ivan Toney.

Brentford striker Toney, 24, replied on social media claiming it’s “showtime”.

Despite spending most of his time out on loan, centre-forward Toney was on the Newcastle books between 2015-2018 and he’s gone on to become a big success elsewhere that looks primed for the top-flight at some stage in his career.

He’s currently joint-top goalscorer in the Championship this season, netting 16 goals in just 22 league matches.

TBR’s View:

Aarons will be hoping he can enjoy success elsewhere like ex-Newcastle man Toney and he just needs to find the right club to do that.

Huddersfield are currently mid-table in the Championship and the skilful left-winger could be a real asset for them if he can start playing regularly.

He’s not played a lot of senior football for someone at the age of 25 and has certainly not lived up to his potential, as he’s got great individual ability with the ball at his feet and just needs to try build some momentum.
