Rodrigo Muniz says Man Utd have had two players who were even better than Thierry Henry in the Premier League
Who is the greatest Premier League player ever? That is a question that is very difficult to answer.
Steven Gerrard is the best player of all-time, according to Adrien Rabiot, while Paul Scholes reckons Ryan Giggs is one of the best to ever do it.
Ultimately, when you’re having a conversation about the Premier League’s best ever, Thierry Henry’s name is bound to crop up.
Henry is an all-time great, but according to Fulham’s Rodrigo Muniz, speaking to Goal, the Frenchman is not one of the Premier League’s best players in history.
Indeed, according to Muniz, Henry doesn’t crack the top five in terms of Premier League greats as he claimed that Manchester United actually have had two players that were better than Henry in the Premier League era.

Rodrigo Muniz makes Thierry Henry claim
Muniz made a claim about Henry and his place among the pantheon of Premier League greats.
According to the Brazilian, both Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney would rank above Henry, as would Alan Shearer.
Jamie Carragher recently named Rooney as England’s greatest striker ever, and it would appear Muniz is also a fan.
“Is Thierry Henry one of the top five players in Premier League history
“No, I think we have had a lot of good players.
“Who would you put above him?
“Cristiano, Rooney and Shearer,”
Thierry Henry compared to Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney
Of course, Cristiano Ronaldo is the greatest of these players, there’s no doubt about that.
Ronaldo is nearing 1000 goals scored in his career, he’s won the Champions League on five separate occasions and he’s won the Ballon d’Or multiple times.
However, when you’re talking about just the Premier League, there is an interesting conversation to be had here.
Muniz reckons that Rooney and Ronaldo are better than Henry in Premier League terms, but the stats tell a different story.
Thierry Henry | Cristiano Ronaldo | Wayne Rooney | |
Games | 258 | 236 | 491 |
Goals | 175 | 103 | 208 |
Assists | 74 | 37 | 103 |
Goal contributions per game | 0.97 | 0.59 | 0.63 |
Most goals in a season | 30 | 31 | 29 |
Golden Boots | 4 | 1 | 0 |
Titles | 2 | 3 | 5 |
In terms of goals and assists per game, Ronaldo and Rooney don’t come close to Henry.
Yes, Rooney has more goals and more assists, but that’s due to the fact he spent almost his entire career in the Premier League, while Henry played in Spain, Italy and France in his prime as well.
It’s certainly interesting to compare these three players, and regardless of who you prefer, it has to be said that they’re three of the best to ever play in England.
