Rodrigo actually gave the captain’s armband to 26-year-old Leeds United player after going off last night

Jesse Marsch must be wondering when his luck will change with injuries at Leeds United.

The American manager has hardly been able to call on first-choice striker Patrick Bamford since his arrival.

He managed to find the perfect replacement, with Rodrigo hitting form just at the right time.

The Spanish forward, used mainly in his time at Leeds as a number ten or out wide, has started the season on fire.

Four goals and an assist in his first four appearance was a fantastic return.

However, the Spaniard’s luck ran out against Everton, after suffering a dislocated shoulder in the first half.

It’s a bitter blow for Leeds fans, who have finally seen the best of Rodrigo this season.

Marsch is a huge fan of Rodrigo, calling him a ‘ and giving him the armband.

Rodrigo gives away armband after injury

Liam Cooper is Leeds’ club captain, but has been unavailable all season due to injury.

The next-in-line appears to be Bamford, but he too has now been side-lined.

With Rodrigo also going off, there was a five-minute period where Leeds had no one wearing the armband against Everton.

Eventually, it reached Robin Koch, who lead the side for the remainder of the match.

Koch was given the captain’s armband

The 26-year-old has been praised by Marsch already this season, as he believes Koch is playing the best football of his career.

He started less than half of Leeds’ league matches last season, after picking up a nasty injury.

However, he’s yet to miss a game this season, and has formed a strong partnership with Diego Llorente.

It will be interesting to see if Marsch gives Koch the captain’s armband from the start at the weekend against Brentford.
