Rodgers is happy for Arsenal target Youri Tielemans to leave – journalist

Brendan Rodgers is happy for Youri Tielemans to leave, that the Leicester boss actually thinks that the Arsenal target may have already hit his ceiling.

Tielemans looks set to leave the King Power Stadium in the summer. His contract has just one more year left to run. And it seems that no agreement over fresh terms is likely.

Reports at the weekend claimed that there is a growing confidence from Arsenal and Tielemans that the Belgian is going to move to the Emirates in a £40 million deal this summer.

It would appear to be a real coup for the Gunners. Tielemans has been superb for much of his spell with the Foxes. However, some Arsenal fans may be a little wary of Rodgers’ reported stance on the 25-year-old leaving.

Jones has suggested that the Leicester boss wants to move him on. And actually, he believes that he may not kick on to another level at his next club.

“I think the most interesting thing on Tielemans is that I’m told Brendan Rodgers is actually happy for him to move on. He thinks he might have hit his ceiling and not sure he gets much better from here and thinks he can actually be replaced,” .

It is surprising to hear that Rodgers believes that Tielemans has reached a ceiling. At 25, he should have the potential to improve considerably.

He has already enjoyed some brilliant moments in his career. The highlight in England surely came when he found the top corner with the winner in last season’s FA Cup final.

Arsenal have also managed to help a few players prove people wrong in the last 12 months. No one could have imagined that Aaron Ramsdale would be such a good signing.

Meanwhile, Ben White has silenced a lot of his doubters since his big-money move to the Emirates.

Tielemans has shown that he has the potential to be an ‘incredible‘ player. So if he does move to Arsenal, he will fancy his chances of proving Rodgers wrong.
