Roberts uses two words to sum up Harry Kane display for Tottenham

Graham Roberts has taken to Twitter to label the performance of Harry Kane ‘simply magnificent’ after watching Tottenham Hotspur beat Leicester City in an incredible game at the King Power Stadium.

Antonio Conte’s men have moved themselves to the brink of the top four in the Premier League. They are one point behind West Ham, with three games in hand over the Hammers.

However, as stoppage-time loomed, it appeared that a frustrating defeat was on the cards for the visitors.

James Maddison had put the Foxes 2-1 up during the second-half. But Spurs were able to score twice in less than two minutes to produce the most remarkable turnaround.

Obviously, Steven Bergwijn will take many of the headlines. The Dutchman has been linked with leaving the club in this window. However, his brace sparked wild scenes in the away end. And it probably ensured that the forward will be going nowhere this month.

Kane ‘simply magnificent’ in Tottenham win

Kane was colossal all night. He did not have the best time in front of goal, despite initially equalising. But some of his work in the build-up play was outstanding.

It was his pass that allowed Bergwijn to score the dramatic winner in the 97th minute.

Kane’s performance was arguably a reminder of the stunning form he showed last season when he was absolutely devastating acting as more of a number 10.

In fairness, Kane has played a lot better throughout the campaign for Tottenham than his numbers would probably suggest. He now has five Premier League goals.

But he now has five in his last nine in all competitions. And Leicester really struggled to contain the Tottenham talisman all evening.

Understandably, Roberts was keen to laud Bergwijn on social media immediately after the full-time whistle. But he also hit the nail on the head regarding Kane’s display…
