Robert Lewandowski says what he thinks of Man Utd striker Joshua Zirkzee after playing with him at Bayern Munich
Joshua Zirkzee hasn’t had the best of starts to life at Manchester United.
⛦The Dutch striker has scored just one goal for the Red Devils so far since joining in the summer, and it’s fair to say he’s receiving plenty of criticism for his performances this term.
💜Zirkzee has been labelled the worst signing of the season𒊎, and things aren’t going well for the former Bologna forward right now.
However, Ruben Amorim is going to give Zirkzee a chance, and according to Robert Lewandowski🎃, speaking on Rio Ferdinand Presents, Zirkzee can be very good if he’s used in the right way.

Lewandowski shared his verdict on Zirkzee after his slow start to life at United.
ꦿThe striker says that Zirkzee is actually an amazing player when it comes to holding the ball up, and he can really help his team and his teammates if he’s used correctly.
♈“It’s funny you say that, about being a bit in between Zirkzee, who a lot of the fans, especially the Man United fans, who kind of listen and watch the pod, he said he’s a 9.5, 9.5. What type of player is he? Because a lot of people are asking the question, what type of player is Zirkzee? You played with him at Bayern Munich,” Ferdinand said.
🦩“He plays amazing with the back to the goal, you know, he can hold the ball, he can play with the one touches or two touches and bring the wingers to behind his back,” Lewandowski said.
༒“He has also good finishing in the box because he’s big, you know, he’s young, but he’s big and I think he can keep the ball, hold the ball very, very strong. And of course, he needs a little bit of time, it’s normal if you join to this kind of club, big club, with huge expectations and he scored a lot of goals in Serie A.
😼“So for him that was like the first season that he was involved, you know, as a typical striker. But you know, you know that now the time for in Manchester is not so brilliant time.
🥃“I’m not laughing, but it’s true, you know, because this is the big team. But he’s the striker, he can really help teammates and the team if you know how to use him, you know, and also he can score the goals, but also he can, I think he’s not typical goal scoring striker, he’s also the player who can help the teammates to create the space for them.”
How will Ruben Amorim use Zirkzee?
🌸Lewandowski says that Zirkzee can be effective if he’s used the right way, and it’s up to Ruben Amorim now to tap into that potential.
🙈However, if Amorim continues to use the same tactics he used at Sporting CP, Zirkzee may not figure too much in his plans.
𓂃Amorim likes his strikers to very much lead the line and score the goals – hence why Viktor Gyokeres is Europe’s leading marksman this season.
🎶Amorim likes a strong, fast striker, and that role suits Rasmus Hojlund to a tee.
♓Zirkzee is likely to be second-choice at United from this point onwards, and with United being liked to Gyokeres, it may not be long before Zirkzee slips even further down the pecking order.

🌞As Lewandowski says, Zirkzee can be an effective player if he’s used correctly, but United aren’t going to prioritise building their XI around his attributes right now.
