Robbie Fowler shares his honest opinion after Marcus Rashford joins Aston Villa from Man Utd

Marcus Rashford joined Aston Villa in the transfer widow in one of the most high-profile deals of the winter.

Rashford is no longer a one-club man as he’s now set to play the remainder of this season for Aston Villa, and, if all goes well, Villa also have a £40m option to buy.

It’s fair to say that this signing is something of a gamble by Villa. After all, Rashford has been criticised for his performances in recent times.

However, Rashford wanted to leave Manchester United, and perhaps a change of environment will do him the world of good.

Speaking on The Lineup, Robbie Fowler has been discussing Rashford’s switch to Aston Villa, and he’s claimed that this could be the perfect move for the England international.

Robbie Fowler shares verdict on Marcus Rashford move

Fowler shared his honest verdict on Rashford’s move to Aston Villa.

The pundit says that this is the perfect move for Rashford and that he could now kickstart his career again at Aston Villa.

“I think this is the perfect move for him. We don’t know the reasons why he’s sort of gone under the radar in terms of performances at Man United, but he’s probably needed a bit of a change,” Fowler said.

“I think this could kickstart his career again so I think it’s a perfect move for all concerned. Actually I think Manchester United probably wanted him away from the building and Aston Villa have got a very good player, this could be the making of him again this one.”

Players who’ve improved since leaving Manchester United

Fowler says that this move could kickstart Rashford’s career again, and Rashford wouldn’t be the first player to leave Manchester United and kick on.

Indeed, there’s been a fair few players over the years who have improved after leaving Old Trafford.

Players who’ve improved after leaving Manchester United
Anthony Elanga
Andreas Pereira
Danny Welbeck
Wilfried Zaha
Angel Gomes
Diego Forlam
Gerard Pique

Anthony Elanga is a £50m-rated player after leaving United, Andreas Pereira is a key player for Fulham, while Wilfried Zaha became a legend at Crystal Palace after returning to Crystal Palace.

Tottenham want to sign Angel Gomes now, while Manchester United actually wanted to re-sign Danny Welbeck after his recent improvement.

Going even further back, Diego Forlan and Gerard Pique became world-class players after leaving United as well.

Sometimes, Old Trafford isn’t the best place for a talented player, and Rashford may well be able to show his full potential at Aston Villa after leaving his boyhood club.
