Robbie Fowler cannot believe the adoration Liverpool fans give Luis Suarez
Liverpool icon Robbie Fowler has admitted his surprise at the strong feeling of goodwill Reds fans had towards Luis Suarez,
Suarez was something of an Anfield darling for taking Liverpool to the edge of the 2013/14 Premier League title, before leaving for Barcelona the following summer.
But although his celebration and antics against the club during the staggering 4-3 Champions League semi-final aggregate win angered the supporters who adored him – Fowler still couldn’t understand why he was initially loved so much.
Fowler : “I have a big problem with the way the fans love him. The way he left… he started playing well because he wanted to leave. He wanted to join Arsenal.
“Michael (Owen) did far more for this club than he ever did. His antics last week showed no respect for the club whatsoever. Where was his respect last week? I have a big problem with him.”

The Champions League clash has tarnished Suarez’s standing among the Liverpool fans but the truth is he was simply being the pest he always was when he played for the club – it’s just that the Reds didn’t like being on the other side of it.
Suarez could have shown his former employers more respect with a muted celebration but he’s never been that kind of player.
He’s the archetypal example of ‘love him when he’s on your team, hate him when he’s not’. That’s all.
