The former Bolton man was carried off in the 2-2 draw against Manchester United on Wednesday, leaving Emery with a defensive headache ahead of tomorrow’s home match against Huddersfield.

With the Spaniard preferring a three-man defensive system of late, he needs bodies and that may press him into action in the January transfer market.

The defender is valued at £20m and while Emery might have preferred a more experienced choice, Holding added youth and speed to the backline and Kabak could do something similar.

Emery wants to play a high line and needs improved pace among his defensive options in order to make that a success.

Kabak has impressed in the Champions League this season which underlines the quality he could bring to the Emirates Stadium as Emery looks for a plan B to replace Holding.
