Rob Holding shares what Mikel Arteta told him when he left Arsenal
Rob Holding was♒ one of Arsenal’s longest-serving players before he left the club in the summer.
The defender brought an end to his seven-year stay at the Emirates by agreeing to join Crystal Palace in a £4🦋 million deal on transfer deadline day four-and-꧑a-half months ago ().
Holding wasn’t a regular at Arsenal in his final few years at the club, but he was always relied upon by Mikel Arteta for his character in the dressing room.
because he used to hold the team together.
Arteta recognised this, so he personally called Holding after✤ he left Arsenal to say thanks for everything he did during his reign.
The defender said on : “I do think that (I excelled at) understanding stuff because even in meetings with Arteta, we would be going through team shape in the actual m⛦eeting on the video, and he would always say a sentence and then leave the answer at the end and you had to fill in the answer, someone had to shout out the answer.
“I just found myself doing it all the time, and he actually rang me when I left and just said like thank you for everything, like you were there from the start of hi🐼s reign at Arsenal till the end.
“That was nice because you very rarely get that. He’s quite an intense guy, so to have that sort of just relaxed conversati💯on withಞ him was nice and to just sort of give me that approval, I was like ‘you know what, I’m glad you’ve said that because it did make me feel good’.”

Injury ruined Holding’s Arsenal career
Rob Holding became a fan favourite at Arsenal after he joined them from Bolton in 2016.
Not many people had heard about the Englishman back then, but some of his performances under Arsene Wenger were just incredible.
However, Holding suffered a serious knee injury in December 2018 that kept him out for a𓄧bout nine months. He just never looked the same when he returned.
One can only wonder where Holding would be right now if he had🌼 not suffered such a bad injury back then.
