Rival thinks Leeds United have sent out a ‘fantastic message’ this week
Leeds United have been praised by Millwall chief executive Steve Kavanagh for their stance on how the Championship season should be concluded, in conversation with .
English football has ground to a standstill due to the global health crisis, and speculation has been raging over how to see out the 2019-20 campaign.
Some of the options up for debate include rendering the season null and void, declaring it finished as things stand, and seeing the remaining fixtures out, either behind closed doors or once it’s safer to do so.

Leeds would benefit were the season to be declared finished at it stands, given they sit top of the Championship table.
Elland Road chief executive Angus Kinnear said on Monday that Leeds’ view is that the season must be completed
“It’s certainly our opinion, we think it maintains the integrity of the football pyramid, the integrity of the competitions,” he told the official Leeds .
The 2019-20 season was extended indefinitely on Thursday afternoon, with a Premier League statement confirming that all matches until April 30 at the earliest have been postponed.
Kavanagh was pleased with the Whites’ perspective, telling : “You saw Luton and Leeds come out to say how important it was to finish the season, which I thought was a fantastic message from the two teams who could have self-interest.
“They have sent out a strong message that this is not about self-interest, let’s not speculate, let’s get to a position where we can make clear, good decisions that can allow us to move forward.”
TBR View:
Given the halt in proceedings due to the unprecedented health crisis sweeping the world, the number one priority is to keep people safe, but at the same time, the question of what to do with the various competitions needs to be resolved.
It’s a contentious issue as every possible solution proposed has pros and cons which are bound to affect at least some clubs adversely, and so it’s not a decision that can be taken lightly.
The personal view of the TBR writer is to see the 2019-20 season out when it’s safe to do so, even if it has to be in the summer or autumn – it’s important that the campaign, and its permutations, can be fulfilled as intended in the name of integrity and fairness.
