‘More to come from him’: Rio Ferdinand thinks ‘unbelievable’ player would look much better if he left Leeds
It’s widely accepted at Leeds United that Brazilian winger Raphinha is often the star of the show and the club will do well to keep hold of him in the long-term.
Raphinha set up the dramatic last minute winner for Joe Gelhardt at the weekend and continues to impress at Elland Road. Since arriving for around £17m from Lille, the South American has become a huge Leeds favourite. Inevitably, though, that form has led to interest from elsewhere with the likes of , Chelsea and Manchester United keen.

Leeds staying up will probably have a big bearing on whether Raphinha stays put or not. And according to Rio Ferdinand, a move to a top six club could see Raphinha go to another level completely.
“I like him, I like him. I like the way he plays. He had a spell this season where I thought he was the most decisive player in Leeds. I think if he went to a better team he would go up another level again. I think there’s more to come from him and he’ll be an interesting player, especially at his valuation,” Ferdinand said on his podcast.
Raphinha has been impressive once again in terms of basic stats this term. He’s hit goals and added three assists, with double figures surely just around the corner. He was for his composure at the weekend by Paul Merson, who labelled his piece of skill ‘unbelievable’ at the time.
TBR’s View: Raphinha Can Definitely Improve Further
While Leeds have been a good club for Raphinha to get himself embedded in English football and showcase his skills, there is no doubt the talent is there for him to get even better.
A move to Liverpool or a club of similar ilk would not phase him you feel and there’s every chance what Rio says comes true if he does get that move.
Ultimately, Leeds will hope they stay up. That way, if Raphinha does go, they at least get the money he’s worth.
