Rio Ferdinand reveals what people inside Arsenal are privately telling him about Max Dowman after he trains with the first-team

Max Dowman is the latest superstar teenager coming out of Arsenal’s academy.

The Gunners haven’t been able to win the Premier League in recent years, but they have saved hundreds of millions on the transfer market thanks to their youth system.

Bukayo Saka is the biggest name to come out of Hale End, while Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly have also come through the ranks and become first-team stars.

Dowman is expected to be the next one in line, and Rio Ferdinand says he’s truly amazed by the youngster after watching him live.

What Rio Ferdinand has heard about Max Dowman from Arsenal insiders

Ferdinand played with and against some of the greatest players football has seen.

The Manchester United legend knows a good player when he sees one, and he has seen something in Dowman that has really excited him.

Just a few weeks ago, Ferdinand told Arsenal fans to watch out for Dowman because of his talent and potential.

Now, the legendary defender has given more insight into his thoughts about the youngster and what people inside Arsenal have told him about the 15-year-old.

In a video on his YouTube channel, Ferdinand said: “We’re talking about Man United’s young players, Arsenal have got a few, mate. There’s a young kid. Remember I said it weeks ago, Max Dowman. Wow!

“I went to Dubai the other day, I see the Arsenal team the other day. I didn’t watch them train but I’m hearing – mate… (puffs his cheeks).

I’ve watched him personally live and I came away from the game going: ‘Wow, what have I just seen?’

“The confidence [is] on another planet. Don’t forget, at the time I’ve seen him, he was 15-16 and was playing against 18-year-olds.

“Some of the guys at Arsenal are saying he’s walking over there into training with the Arsenal first-teamers like it’s nothing. It’s like he’s meant to be. It looks like the confidence is on a 100.”

What Mikel Arteta has said about giving Max Dowman his senior Arsenal debut this season

Mikel Arteta has shown over the years that he is not afraid to give young players opportunities.

The Arsenal manager was the one who made Nwaneri the youngest player to make an appearance in the Premier League in the history of the competition.

The Gunners have several injuries at the moment in attack, and they could do with some help from their academy. Dowman would be a great option to bring on at some point.

However, Premier League rules do not allow Dowman to play this season, and Arteta recently suggested that there’s no way that can be changed.

He said in his press conference ahead of the Leicester game: “It’s clear, the rules on age and restrictions at the moment. And it is very difficult to change that as well.”
