Rio Ferdinand predicts the Premier League top four this season with Tottenham missing out
Tottenham, Manchester United, Chelsea, Newcastle and Aston Villa will all be pushing for a place in the Premier League top four this season.
Spurs, Man United and Chelsea haven’t got off to the best of starts this season.
Eddie Howe and Unai Emery are riding high though at the moment, and they look to be in a good position to kick on.
Of course, it’s still early days, and while Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City look likely to make up the top three this season, that fourth-place spot is up for grabs.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Rio Ferdinand has been discussing how things will finish this season, and he’s had a go at predicting how the top four will look come the end of the campaign.
Rio Ferdinand’s top four prediction
The pundit shared his verdict on how things will shape up.
“With that being said, where would you put us at the end of the season? What are you going for? I went for a top four of Arsenal, City, Liverpool and then us, United, in that order

Fifth may be enough
There’s been a lot of chat about the top four once again this season, but we mustn’t forget that fifth-place may be enough for Champions League football this season.
With the extended format of the Champions League, qualification rules have changed, and if the English clubs can perform well in Europe this season, that door will open.
Of course, fourth guarantees you Champions League football no matter what, so that has to be the aim, but it mustn’t be forgotten that these teams can achieve their goals this season by finishing fifth if things fall correctly.
As for Ferdinand’s prediction, it’s hard not to suggest that bias has played its part in his Manchester United prediction after a poor start to the season, but with 35 games to go, there’s plenty of time for the Red Devils to turn things around.
