Rio Ferdinand praises Everton star Demarai Gray despite Toffees struggles
Rio Ferdinand has told that Demarai Gray has been an unbelievable find for Everton given what they paid for him, with the forward proving to be the only player giving the side a chance of getting out of trouble.
Things look very bleak for the Toffees right now. Everton sit in the bottom three in the Premier League. And they have only won three games all season. Frank Lampard is certainly coming under real pressure.
Everton fans would have hoped that he would lead the side forward after they narrowly avoided relegation last season. However, they have since sold their best player. And they have not replaced Richarlison in the transfer market.

Meanwhile, Anthony Gordon has not come close to replicating his form from last term. And Jordan Pickford has also not been as influential.
But one or two players have stepped up. Gray has scored three times, including two in their last two. He helped Everton secure a massive point away at Manchester City last month.
Gray has scored 11 goals and provided five assists in 60 games for Everton. Considering he cost the club just , there is little doubt that he has been a superb signing.
Certainly, Ferdinand believes that he has done well as he reflected on their FA Cup loss to Manchester United.
“Demarai Gray’s the only one. Unbelievable find. He’s the one, in recent weeks anyway. He hasn’t done it over the course of the whole season, but in recent weeks, he’s been the one. They need more,” .
The problem is that Gray’s record is good without being spectacular. He has been well worth the money considering some of the prices around right now.
However, he is their joint top goalscorer with just three league goals. Meanwhile, only one player in the Everton squad has provided more than one assist.
Gray has definitely been a shrewd signing. However, it says everything about whether Everton are that his form is one of the only positives for the club right now.
