Rio Ferdinand lauds Jack Harrison after Leeds win at Newcastle
Rio Ferdinand that Jack Harrison has been a breath of fresh air in the Premier League as the winger scored Leeds United’s winner against Newcastle on Tuesday.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side got back to winning ways. But they were made to work incredibly hard at St James’ Park, particularly during the second-half.

It was Harrison who scored the decisive goal. Newcastle had just made the score 1-1 with Miguel Almiron cancelling out Raphinha’s opener.
Raphinha was the man to set Harrison up. The winger danced into the middle of the pitch and lifted a delicious pass into the Englishman’s path.

Harrison took a touch to steady himself and then found the opposite corner with a gorgeous finish. And Ferdinand suggested that it was a moment that encapsulated the Manchester City loanee’s form since arriving at the highest level.
“A great ball from Raphinha, all the space in the world [for Harrison]. No one around him, marking him. That’s a paintbrush of a left foot there, just guides it into the far corner,” .
“Fantastic strike from Harrison who I think’s been a breath of fresh air since he’s come up. He’s been one of their star men for Leeds this season.”
Harrison is perhaps not a player who tends to steal many of the headlines. But his record in the Premier League is proving to be outstanding.
He now has four goals and four assists in the top flight. By contrast, he had four goals and three assists during his entire first year at Elland Road. And he is well on his way to eclipsing last season’s total of six goals and eight assists.
Leeds holding off on taking up to buy Harrison until this summer looked a smart move. The Whites gave themselves a chance to look at the wide-man at the highest level before potentially signing him permanently.
But there can surely now be no doubt over what decision Leeds will come to on Harrison in the summer.
