Rio Ferdinand lauds Everton pair Ben Godfrey and Michael Keane after win
Rio Ferdinand that Michael Keane was immense in Everton’s win over Chelsea at the weekend, while he claimed that Ben Godfrey produced an enormous performance at Goodison Park.
Carlo Ancelotti’s men got back to winning ways thanks to a first-half penalty from Gylfi Sigurdsson. But it seemed to be a particularly colossal rearguard display from the Toffees.

Everton started with four centre-backs making up their backline. Mason Holgate played at right-back, while Godfrey was on the opposite flank.
Meanwhile, Keane – who earns £65,000-a-week, – was outstanding in the middle alongside Yerry Mina. And while Ferdinand was keen to laud all four following the win, he did seem to be particularly impressed with Godfrey and Keane.

“£30-odd million for Ben Godfrey from Norwich, comes in and plays left-back. He’s a centre-back, and it was an enormous performance,” . “And right-back Mason Holgate was tremendous too in that area.
“In the centre of that, you’ve got Michael Keane who was immense, outstanding. He’s been consistently good recently. Mina was clearing everything as well.”
Given how impressive Everton were, it is remarkable to think that Saturday’s win saw the Toffees keep their first clean sheet in the league since the opening day.
They were outstanding throughout the contest. And as Ferdinand goes on to note, all of the players around the back four also deserve praise for their displays.
And with fixtures against the likes of Leicester City, Manchester United and Manchester City ahead before the turn of the year, Ancelotti will be hoping that their defensive performance at the weekend is a sign of what is to come from the Toffees.
