Rio Ferdinand insists Liverpool star Salah still deserves more credit

Rio Ferdinand has claimed in a video that Mo Salah deserves to have even more respect put on his name, labelling the Liverpool star a joke.

Salah brought up another landmark at the weekend as he scored 150th goal for Liverpool in their win over Norwich City. It is an absolutely remarkable return for the Egyptian, particularly when you consider that he cost the club when he signed from Roma.

He has been in absolutely outrageous form in the Premier League in particular this season. Salah scored his 17th goal in the 3-1 victory over the Canaries. Meanwhile, he is one assist away from reaching double figures on that front also.

He is, by some way, the top goalscorer in the top-flight. And he is only one away from leading the charts for assists, too. Only Trent Alexander-Arnold has provided more.

It feels as though there is little more to say about Salah and his quality. But Ferdinand still feels that the Liverpool talisman still does not get the full credit he deserves, as he referenced the goal he scored at Chelsea back at the start of January.

“I think Salah’s a joke. I think he’s a ridiculous player,” . “The Chelsea goal the other day, a little shimmy, the defender was rocked. Bang, goal. You know how many players he does that against. He’s done this consistently for years now.

“This guy needs a bit more respect put on Mo Salah’s name. Forget my ties to Man United or whatever, Mo Salah is the truth.”

Salah form gives Liverpool serious chance of pulling off Premier League title shock

Certainly, it appears that the Premier League title race is back on following Manchester City’s defeat at the weekend. Liverpool could close the gap to three points on Wednesday.

And the two sides meet later in the season. Interestingly, Liverpool are the only team in the league to boast a longer winning run than two victories. They have now won their last five in the top-flight.

Salah is in the top two for goals and assists. And interestingly, the two players alongside him in the two categories are both teammates. Diogo Jota is the second-highest goalscorer.

If Salah can help Liverpool to the title from here, any credit he is still due will surely come his way in spades.
