Rio Ferdinand describes Kane display in Tottenham win ‘a joke’

Rio Ferdinand has labelled the performance of Harry Kane in Tottenham Hotspur’s win over Leeds a joke – .

Spurs have had a remarkable run over the last three games. They beat Manchester City with one of the performances of the season. Kane was the star of the show at the Etihad Stadium, as he scored twice.

However, just days later, it appeared that all of the optimism in North London had evaporated entirely. Tottenham were beaten by Burnley. And Antonio Conte seemed to flirt with the idea of leaving the club just a few months after his appointment.

But Tottenham were able to get their campaign back on track on Saturday. They won 4-0 against a Leeds side who were just as desperate for a victory. Obviously, Marcelo Bielsa has left Elland Road in the days since.

Kane was absolutely irresistible in Yorkshire. He took one goal absolutely sublimely. And he followed that with an incredible assist for Son Heung-min that saw the pair break a Premier League record.

Kane and the rest of the Tottenham players ruthlessly exposed the frailties in the Leeds system. And Ferdinand suggested that the striker was on another level in the comfortable victory.

“Harry Kane, wow. He put on a performance against City the other day, brilliant. Goes away and plays at Leeds, it was probably the perfect game for Spurs to be honest,” .

“But the way he was toying with Leeds, it was like a sixth-former against a first year in school. He was like a big man against boys, it was a joke. He was taking liberties.”

Kane starting to get credit he deserves for underrated season with Tottenham

Kane did take a little while to get going following everything that went on last summer. However, it feels as though the Tottenham striker has received nothing like the credit he has deserved this season.

He now has 18 goals in 36 games in all competitions. Obviously, he has been outstanding of late. But he has been very good for some time this season.

He does appear to have taken his game to another level again under Conte. But Kane’s form should not come as a surprise as he has played a lot better than many will admit for the large majority of the campaign anyway.
