‘Right to the very top’: BBC pundit says ‘everything’ about one Leeds player is amazing

Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips has been praised by BBC Sport pundit Don Hutchison.

“Everything about” the Whites ace is great and he’s “going right to the very top”, Hutchison on Tuesday night.

Leeds reached the fourth round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday as they overcame Fulham on penalties.

Marcelo Bielsa’s charges began brightly, Crysencio Summerville setting Tyler Roberts up for an effort which was saved.

Rodrigo then attempted to convert on the rebound, but he wasn’t able to position himself to make the most of it.

Rodrigo had several efforts to break the deadlock in the match, while Josh Onomah and Neeskens Kebano came close for the hosts.

In the end, it had to go to penalties, there wasn’t much between Leeds and Fulham in the shootout either.

But Illan Meslier proved the hero at Craven Cottage as he saved the final penalty from Rodrigo Muniz.

Phillips played at centre-back and, once again, was superb for his hometown club.

He made numerous important defensive contributions and also tried to pull the strings from deep.

“By far, Kalvin Phillips was the best player on the pitch,” Hutchison said on .

“You watch him play, he glides through games and he sees the picture right in front of him.

“His passing range is outrageous. He is very, very calm. Everything about him. His running game.

“Sometimes when you see a player and you think ‘he is going right to the very top’.”
