‘Right now’: There’s a real chance that ‘incredible’ player could end up staying at Arsenal now, journalist suggests

Hector Bellerin could now stay at Arsenal, despite it looking throughout the summer like he would leave the club.

Bellerin spent last season at Real Betis on loan but it seems they are no longer in the running to sign him on a permanent basis.

Journalist Charles Watts has tweeted that Bellerin’s most likely current options are going to Barcelona or remaining at Arsenal.

He says that there is interest from Italy, and it was reported earlier this week that Serie A side Sassoulo are trying to sign him.

Bellerin could stay at Arsenal

It would be a real surprise if Bellerin did stay at Arsenal, but it would perhaps underline the financial complications of his exit.

It has been clear all summer long that he wants to leave Arsenal and the club are willing to let him go despite bringing him on the pre-season tour.

He is facing a pay cut and that may well have held up the deal, but it would be a climbdown if he is still a Gunners player this time tomorrow.

Bellerin has been described as ‘incredible‘ by Mikel Arteta, and it is clear that both men have a good relationship professionally.

That may raise hopes he could be reintegrated into the side if he did end up staying with a move elsewhere unable to be agreed.

Ben White is currently playing at right-back, with Takehiro Tomiyasu coming back to fitness too, so it is hard to see where Bellerin would get games at Arsenal.
