‘Ridiculous’… Tim Sherwood thinks Ange Postecoglou needs to change one thing at Tottenham now

Tim Sherwood thinks Ange Postecoglou need to mix his tactics up a bit at Tottenham Hotspur now.

Speaking on , the former Tottenham boss raised concerns over Ange Postecoglou’s approach at Manchester City yesterday.

Spurs picked up a point against the odds on Sunday afternoon after a 3-3 draw at the Etihad Stadium.

Tottenham were fortunate to head into the break just 2-1 down after a Son Heung-Min own goal and Phil Foden’s striker cancelled out the Spurs skipper’s opener. But Postecoglou’s side improved dramatically in the second half and began to settle down on the ball.

Indeed, Dejan Kulusevski claimed Postecoglou was furious with his players at halftime and urged them to be brave on the ball.

It certainly paid off as Spurs pushed higher up the pitch in the second period and grabbed a last-minute equaliser through Kulusevski.

Yet, Tim Sherwood believes Postecoglou needs to switch his approach up from time to time.

Sherwood says Postecoglou needs to ‘mix it up’ at Tottenham

Speaking on talkSPORT this morning, Sherwood shared the one change he’d like to see Postecoglou make at Spurs.

“I think I would mix it up a little bit more, especially there,” the former Tottenham boss said. “The last thing you need at City is to give them a leg up and to keep giving them the ball in your own half and giving them a couple of goals lead.

“He trusts them to do it doesn’t he, it’s the way he wants to do it, but I think that it’s a fine margin. It’s the sublime to the ridiculous at times.

“But he’s not going to stop them, whoever they play, whether it’s Burnley or Sheffield United or if they play Man City they’re going to play exactly the same way.”

While Postecoglou has enjoyed a positive start to life at Tottenham, he’s received some criticism over his approach in big games.

The Aussie boss has made it evidently clear he will set his Spurs side up to play on the front foot, regardless of the opposition.

Spurs travelled to City without the likes of Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and James Maddison yesterday. Yet, Postecoglou urged his players to take the game to City.

It paid off for Tottenham in the end and they improved in the second half after pushing further up the pitch and putting City under pressure.
