‘Ridiculous’: Some Liverpool fans react as De Boer plans Van Dijk talks over Netherlands role
Some Liverpool supporters have been reacting on social media after Frank de Boer confirmed to that he intends to speak with Virgil van Dijk over his Netherlands role.
De Boer is hopeful that he will be able to name Van Dijk in his squad for this summer’s European Championship, having opted to delay a decision over who features.
Van Dijk is still recovering from the knee ligament surgery () he underwent in October following a collision with Everton’s Jordan Pickford during the Merseyside derby, but has been taking part in light training sessions recently ().

The centre-half is yet to begin training with the rest of the Liverpool squad and is not expected to be deemed fit to feature again this season (), as the final match of the Premier League campaign is now less than two weeks away.
But De Boer intends to contact Van Dijk this week to gain a better understanding of his rehabilitation, and will leave it to the 29-year-old to decide if he wishes to feature at Euro 2020.
“I think he has to decide, it is his career,” the Dutch boss told Good Morning Eredivisie. “I can imagine that he is in a split. Can I mean something for Orange? I hope he has made giant steps in his rehabilitation.”
Van Dijk had of Liverpool’s Premier League fixtures before his season was potentially cut short through injury, while failing to feature in any of his side’s Champions League or FA Cup ties.
Here’s how these Reds supporters responded to De Boer’s plans to contact Van Dijk…
Please say no Virg🥺

That’d be a really bad idea.
He should pass on the euros and focus on next season…— THIAGO 🔥🔥🔥 (@MukhtarJibril10)
Someone get Virgils phone and change de Boers name to Don’t Answer! Sorted.

Nah it’s not happening
Next time Van Dijk plays football it will be in a Liverpool shirt and it will be the first game of next season.— Gambino (@Gambino11112)
HELLLLLLL NO!
— Bigpappi (@ErrolJohnson18)
I don’t want to risk him. But in a way if he plays in the euros it would be good as it would get him prepared for next season

That really would be ridiculous for him to be even called up when he is still out injured. Needs no matches until he’s ready to come back.

Please don’t. Want him fully fit for the new season.
