Richards says he feels so sorry for Tottenham starlet Sessegnon
Micah Richards that he felt so sorry for Ryan Sessegnon after the Tottenham Hotspur wide-man was replaced during the first-half against Wolves on Sunday.
Antonio Conte picked Sessegnon in the starting lineup to face Bruno Lage’s men. Unfortunately, the afternoon could have hardly played out worse for the 21-year-old.

Through little fault of his, Tottenham found themselves 2-0 down inside 18 minutes. Nevertheless, it was Sessegnon who Antonio Conte decided to take off, replacing him with Dejan Kulusevski before the half-hour mark.
A first-half substitution can be humiliating. And Conte made sure to explain his decision to the youngster as he made his way back to the bench.

However, it does appear to be an ominous sign that Conte decided that Sessegnon was the player who needed replacing.
Even if he was not at fault for anything, the Italian perhaps sent out a message that he did not necessarily see the former Fulham man being able to help turn the game around.
And Richards suggested that he really sympathises with Sessegnon.
“Sessegnon I felt so sorry for him after he got hooked. Youngish player, it’s never really happened for him there. It’s just every part of the puzzle just seems the wrong way round,” .
Ryan Sessegnon heading into crucial period in Tottenham career
It will surprise many that Sessegnon’s time at Tottenham has been so frustrating so far. He looked such an impressive talent when he was coming through at Craven Cottage.
However, injury stopped Sessegnon making his debut until the very end of Mauricio Pochettino’s tenure. And he has never really managed to secure a spot in any manager’s plans since.
He would have hoped that Conte’s arrival could have sparked a turnaround. However, he remains behind Sergio Reguilon in the pecking order. And he cannot afford to miss out on chances that come his way.
There is still time for Sessegnon to be a success at Tottenham. But he will surely have questions about his future should he remain on the periphery for the rest of the season.
