Richard Keys weighs into the saga regarding takeover of Newcastle United
Pundit Richard Keys has said that there may be movement on the takeover of Newcastle United by the middle of the month,
Keys now works for BeIn Sports in Qatar and says it is not a group from Saudi Arabia who are at the front of the queue to take over the Magpies.
He : “Newcastle fans should hope that the group wanting to buy their club can pull things together by mid-February. They’re still at the table. And it’s not the Saudis.
“I was pleased when Steve Bruce cooled that nonsense. Well – it’s not the Saudi’s right now although it is fair to say they they’ve been ‘sniffing’ around.”
No takeover could ever happen in 48 hours. The front runners to buy are still at the table – & it’s not the Saudi’s as I said last week. It’s the same group who hoped to have a deal done by Jan. Next time to start getting excited is mid Feb.

TBR’s View – Newcastle fans will only believe takeover when it’s signed, sealed and delivered
Newcastle fans have been here before with mooted takeovers that disappear into thin air and cause them to wonder whether Mike Ashley really wants to sell the club at all.
Rafa Benitez has now spent £145m in 3 years at Newcastle. In the same period Pochettino has spent £179m at Spurs – and guided them into the top 3 in each of the last 3 seasons. 🤷♂️

The likes of Keys wading into the conversation won’t convince any Newcastle fans that it’s happening, not least after his ridiculous comments about Rafa Benitez last season.
It only adds to the feeling it’s a mess behind the scenes with regards this latest mooted takeover. There won’t be many Magpies fans thanking Keys for his opinion on their club again.
