Richard Keys brutally slams Arsenal player with ‘brains of a rocking horse’ after Man City draw

Arsenal came away with a 2-2 draw against Manchester City this weekend with John Stones scoring a 98th-minute equaliser for the hosts.

The north London side were mere seconds away from one of their biggest Premier League wins in recent memory with Arsenal 2-1 up at half-time yet down a man after Leandro Trossard was sent off for a second yellow card.

With Jamie Carragher and Michael Owen both criticising the Belgian international, Trossard’s sending off was one that was avoidable and something that could have led to Arsenal winning the game had the attacker not be dismissed.

And Richard Keys has now joined in on the publically slamming of Trossard.

Arsenal’s Trossard criticised after ‘daft’ decision vs Man City

Writing on his , the pundit was very critical of Trossard’s sending-off and how the former Brighton & Hove Albion man was dismissed against City, especially so soon after Declan Rice saw red for a similar incident.

Keys wrote about Trossard’s sending off against City: “I’ve no sympathy for Trossard. What he did was just plain daft, so soon after Declan Rice was punished for kicking the ball away. He deserved to go.

“But if he hadn’t been booked for doing that, he could easily have been booked for the foul that led to the incident. There was no need make that clumsy challenge – right on half-time, handing City a chance to have a crack at goal from the free-kick.

“I do agree with Arteta that Doku should’ve been booked. He too kicked the ball away, but let’s not forget it would’ve been a simple yellow. Trossard was on a yellow when he committed his crime. The guy must have the brains of a rocking horse.”

Trossard knows he made a big mistake at the Etihad Stadium

Trossard’s sending off could have been the difference between Arsenal drawing the game with City or coming away with one of their biggest wins in recent memory under Mikel Arteta.

And looking back on the game, Trossard will know he made a big mistake in how he went about dealing with the occasion, with the 29-year-old attacking aware he made a stupid decision to boot the ball away after fouling Bernardo Silva.

Indeed, Arsenal could have gone on to close out the game had Trossard remained on the pitch, and the winger will take a key lesson from the moment ahead of a one-game suspension with the Gunners.
