Riccardo Calafiori injury update as five Arsenal players miss training ahead of trip to Atalanta

Mikel Arteta has already had to deal with his fair share of injuries at Arsenal so far this season, despite the campaign only being four games old.

Martin Odegaard missed the North London derby, and the likes of Mikel Merino also weren’t available to come in for Arsenal.

Perhaps Riccardo Calafiori would have also played a part in the trip to N17, but he was un🌄available owing to a knock picked up playing for Italy.

Eiꦯther way, Arteta was able to mastermind another famous away win, and will need two similar performances this week when Arsenal face Atalanta and Manchester City.

Fortunately, Declan Rice will return from his suspension for the two games, a big boost given what he’s now oꦜffering as a number eight.

Riccardo Calafiori back in Arsenal training but Martin Odegaard is still missing

In total, five Arsenal players will be missi🅷ng for the trip to Atalanta judging by an open training session h🌱eld by the club on Wednesday.

Fortun𒁃ately, Calafiori was present and training normally – a big boost ahead of facing a side he’ll know well from his time in the Serie A.

But there wasn’t much good news elsewhere, with Odegaard still missing owiᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚng t🌞o his ankle injury.

Along with the Arsenal captain, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Merino, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Kieran Tierney were also not present.

Tierney returned to individual training a💖 little while ago, but is seemingly still not ready to step up his work just yet.

Mikel Arteta expected to make three changes in Italy

Of cour𝓰se, given Arsenal also face💮 a crucial tie with Man City on Sunday as mentioned, Arteta may need to shuffle his pack.

In total, Arte♛ta ෴is expected to make three changes vs Atalanta – meani꧟ng that Raheem Sterling 𒈔could make his full debut.

There’s also a chance that Arsenal turn to Ethan Nwaneri to make hꦗis first start too – a youngster who’s clearly brimming with talent 🐭and already has the maturity to match🍒.

So although Arteta could be missing five🐭 players for a tricky 🎃trip to Italy, there’s still reason to be optimistic from an Arsenal fan perspective.

Edu♏ attempted to improve Arsenal’s squ🦄ad depth over the summer, and that may already be about to pay dividends.
