Reports reveal why Tottenham’s move for Dybala fell through

According to , Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Paulo Dybala was complicated by an image rights issue. Ultimately, an inability to find a solution to this problem caused the deal to fall through.

Spurs were keen to get a deal for the attacker done. Argentine coach Mauricio Pochettino is said to be an admirer of his 25-year-old compatriot’s talents, as per the aforementioned report. According to , the north London club even implored Juventus to assist in paying for Dybala’s image rights. However, the Serie A giants refused this request.

The forward will stick with the Turin club as no appropriate terms on which to bring him to the Premier League could be reached. He will now stick with the Turin club. He will be hoping for a more impressive campaign than he enjoyed last time around. Last season, the 23-cap Argentina international managed just five league goals in 30 outings.

A switch to White Hart Lane might have revived Dybala’s form. The forward would certainly have enjoyed featuring alongside the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Heung-min Son. Dybala would have been an exciting addition for Pochettino’s side, however, it wasn’t to be.
