Reportedly imminent, Betrand Traore could prove ideal competition for Trezeguet

Aston Villa are reportedly on the verge of completing a move for Bertrand Traore.

Apparently the player has already undergone his medical at the club’s training facility in Denmark, with a £19 million deal in place ().

Traore is set to return to the Premier League after leaving Chelsea for Lyon in 2017, after having loan spells with Vitesse and Ajax.

It seems an announcement is fairly imminent, and that Traore will follow Matty Cash and Ollie Watkins to Villa Park.

Fans have been clamouring for new wide options, and Traore could be a real hit since he has unfinished business.

But there may actually be one other potential benefactor of the Burkina Faso international’s transfer.

2019/20 was up and down for Egyptian winger Trezeguet.

The 25-year-old struggled for consistency but undoubtedly showed glimpses of brilliance at times.

He came in clutch at the end of the season, his brace against Crystal Palace and his winner at Arsenal ultimately keeping the club in the Premier League.

A deal for Traore is exactly what the player needs to kick on now.

TBR’s View – Traore a similar player to Trezeguet

Smith is likely to have Trezeguet in his starting XI from the off, and it’ll be up to Traore to force his way in.

It’ll therefore be vital for the £32,500-a-week star () to start off strongly in his second season.

He has a feel for the league now, and should be aiming to increase his numbers of seven goals and three assists.

With a predominantly left-footed right winger like Traore pushing him, Trezeguet could potentially reach new heights in 2020/21.
