Reported Wolves and Leicester target Palhinha not going anywhere for now

Premier League duo Leicester City and Wolves have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Sporting Lisbon midfielder, Joao Palhinha.

The Foxes have been linked with Palhinha up to as recently as this month. The claiming that Lisbon were looking to ward off interest by offering Palhinha a new deal.

Wolves have also held a long-term interest in the midfielder. Last summer, it was claimed Nuno Santo came close to signing him for around £25m. Of course, no such deal ever materialised for Palhinha and Wolves.

However, if either club is hopeful of pursuing a deal this summer, they could face trouble. Palhinha’s agent has told that the midfielder is ‘very happy’ in Portugal at the moment, indicating he has no intention of leaving.

Palhinha’s agent, Luis Neves, claims the midfield star is ‘very focused’ on his work in Lisbon, despite talk of a potential move.

Wolves and Leicester, then, may well have to look elsewhere if they are to land a new midfield player this summer.

You can never count deals out, especially when it comes to Wolves and Portuguese players, given their links with Jorge Mendes.

But the comments from the agent here suggest that Palhinha is more than happy. Of course, it could just be a way of getting more money out of any potential suitors.

Palhinha is a fine player and this is one that will probably get another mention when the summer window opens.
