Reported Spurs January target nets league brace, 6ft 6in ace now on 18 goals for the season
Reported Tottenham Hotspur January target Wout Weghorst is now on and three in his last two games.
The Wolfsburg striker scored a brace in Saturday’s Bundesliga draw with Freiburg, putting the hosts two ahead before they were pegged back through two goals either side of the break.
Weghorst’s opener came in the 14th minute, slotting home from Renato Steffen’s pullback, before winning a penalty and sending the opposition goalkeeper the wrong way on 27 minutes.

Freiburg halved the deficit two minutes before the break through Lucas Holer and the comeback was complete via Roland Sallai just after the restart.
According to a Bild report from January, as relayed by , Tottenham had four Bundesliga strikers on their wish list during the last transfer window, one of which was Weghorst.
Wolfsburg reportedly didn’t want to sell mid-season, Spurs didn’t bring in any strikers in the end and it risked derailing their season completely, with Harry Kane and Son Heung-min both sidelined prior to the football suspension.

Standing a mighty 6ft 6in, Weghorst is the archetypal target man, a tall striker with great aerial ability who is able to hold up the ball superbly, not to mention his poacher’s instinct and eye for goal which has helped him rack up such impressive scoring figures this season.
While no transfer fee has been quoted in previous reports this year, Weghorst’s , but with his contract running to 2023, the ball is very much in Wolfsburg’s court when it comes to the negotiation table, should Spurs wish to rekindle their interest.
