Reported Arsenal target Guido Rodriguez insists he’s happy with Real Betis

Reported Arsenal target, Guido Rodriguez, has said he is happy in Spain with Real Betis, despite claims the Gunners are keen on bringing him to the Premier League.

claimed in the week that Arsenal were among the teams tracking Rodriguez. Liverpool, too, are also said to have cast admiring glances in the direction of the Betis star.

But speaking to Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo yesterday, the midfield maestro has insisted he is more than happy in La Liga at the moment.

“I saw it because friends from Argentina asked me, but I told them that I knew the same as them. I am the protagonist because I am in the news but today, I do not know more or less than you who saw it,” Rodriguez said. (quotesl)

“I am very happy [at Betis], I arrived and there was one or two months with a strange situation for everyone with the issue of confinement but the truth is that I am very happy in Seville, with the city, the weather, at the club… I’m very happy.”

Betis are said to be under pressure to sell a few players and it is believed Rodriguez could bring in around £68m for the club should they decide to sell the midfielder.

But for now, it seems Rodriguez is happy to bide his time and prove himself further in Spain.

It’s interesting that Rodriguez speaks about being happy with Betis. But the fact is, Arsenal were never going to pay £68m for a player this summer, especially if they don’t have Champions League football.

Guido is obviously a talented footballer and is right to be on the radar of Mikel Arteta. However, given his fee, it seems unlikely that Rodriguez will be a Gunner any time soon.
