Report: Wolves set to move for Pape Abou Cisse

According to Greek outlet , Wolves are preparing to launch a €20 million [£18 million] bid for Olympiacos defender Pape Abou Cisse, who has also been watched by Arsenal.

Aside from converting Leander Dendoncker and Raul Jimenez’s loan switches into permanent moves, Nuno Espirito Santo is yet to do any incoming business this summer.

Following promotion from the Championship in 2018, Wolves enjoyed a fine campaign in the Premier League last season. The Portuguese coach was able to guide his side to a seventh place finish in the top flight. However, improvements to the squad must be made this summer if the club are to maintain their impressive upward trajectory.

Greater strength in depth defensively is required. Nuno’s preferred system is built on the foundations of a back three. However, beyond his first choice trio, the manager has little back up quality to call upon. The arrival of Cisse would provide this depth and also generate competition for places.

The arrival of the 23-year-old centre-back would ensure that the likes of Conor Coady, Willy Boly and Ryan Bennett all have to fight for their starting spots. The three-cap Senegal international has proven his quality in Greece and wouldn’t be arriving to warm the Molineux bench.
