Reports in the Portuguese press have linked Wolves with a move for the 25-year-old. Indeed, those reports claim Wolves could be preparing a £53m bid for the 20-goal ace.

Wolves are being heavily linked as speculation continues to increase over whether Raul Jimenez will stay put this summer. Those same Portuguese reports claim Jimenez could be wanted by the likes of Man United and Real Madrid.

However, local  from Wolves claim a move for Vinicius is wide of the mark as things stand.

That is, in part, due to the financial situation the club, and football, in general, finds itself in thanks to the current global situation.

Vinicius has been in blistering form for Benfica this season, hitting double figures in both goals and assists.

Liverpool have previously been with an interest in the 25-year-old.

Last summer, this is the sort of deal Wolves would have pushed ahead with. A player who is playing very well and clearly someone who can improve the squad.

However, it just doesn’t look like we are going to be seeing those mega-money deals in the coming months.

Clubs are going to have to be so careful with their spending. And while Vinicius is a player who looks quality, Wolves might have to pass for a bit on this one.

It’s a shame, but Wolves are a sensibly run club. Putting themselves in financial trouble now would be a strange decision, especially if Vinicius did indeed flop.
