What Manchester United are now expecting after Tottenham showed interest in Scott McTominay

Tottenham are one of the clubs interested in Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay and there’s been an update on his situation today.

McTominay remains on the fringes of being a regular in the first XI under Erik ten Hag but has proved himself a useful player for the Dutch coach in recent times.

As we know, reports have suggested Tottenham are prepared to bid for McTominay as they look to strengthen their squad.

However, Ten Hag himself has spoken this weekend of his desire to keep McTominay, leaving the midfielder’s situation a touch up in the air.

Regardless, the Scot will want to know what United’s plans are for him next season and according to Sky Sports, United know that the interest is not going away.

Manchester United expecting more bids for Scott McTominay after Tottenham interest

Updating the situation on , journalists Dharmesh Sheth and Lyall Thomas offered up what the situation is with McTominay and United right now.

“Erik ten Hag has reiterated his stance on midfielder Scott McTominay, calling him an “important player” and says the club do not wish to sell, amid interest from Fulham,” Sheth said.

“United are expecting further offers for the Scottish international – Galatasaray also remain interested.

“If a midfielder is to leave in this window, United have been working on potential incomings.

The note of Galatasaray’s interest was something mentioned last week.

Quite whether McTominay would fancy a move to Turkey, though, is another top entirely.

For Tottenham, who are close to selling Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to Marseille, a bid for McTominay as a potential replacement could make sense.

However, at around £40m, the price might be just that bit too high.

Still, with United now accepting that further bids will come their way, there is a touch of encouragement for Tottenham in this one.
