Report: What journalists heard Jesse Marsch shouting at his Leeds players during training this week

Jesse Marsch put on an open training session for Leeds United as they gear up to return to Premier League action.

The have reported on it and said they could hear the Whites boss shouting at his players: “Let’s have energy,” and “Let’s play with quality”.

Those are the bedrocks of Marsch’s style as he continues his fight to prove that his methods can establish Leeds safely as an ambitious Premier League team.

They lost 4-2 at home to Monaco last night in their final friendly before the serious action restarts after Christmas in the Premier League.

Marsch calling for energy and quality in training

Leeds sit 15th ahead of the resumption of the season, two points ahead of the relegation zone going into the frantic festive period.

Next up is a visit from Manchester City, which will not be an easy task at all as the reigning champions set about chasing Arsenal down.

Then come Newcastle, who have Champions League ambitions of their own so Leeds can afford no signs of rustiness upon their return.

January will also be a hugely important month in terms of who they get through the door to bolster their squad and ensure another relegation battle is avoided.

Marsch’s Leeds were involved in some crazy games just before the World Cup and while it is entertaining for the neutral, it is hardly a blueprint for sustainable success.

Leeds have to keep working hard on the training ground and hope that they can get themselves safely into mid-table as soon as possible on the back of his unprecedented mid-season break.
