Report: West Ham won’t be selling their ‘fantastic’ £6m player now, he’s going to stay

Arthur Masuaku is set to stay West Ham United as it stands despite potential interest in a new left-back at the club.

The underline the club’s need for reinforcements on the left of David Moyes’ defence, with Aaron Cresswell needing cover and competition at the very least.

They say that there have been talks with German international David Raum but nothing is close as it stands.

That means that Masuaku will stay as cover, although Ben Johnson can of course come over and play on the left as well.

Masuaku set to stay at West Ham

Masuaku joined the Hammers for £6 million, as per , in August 2016 but is nobody’s idea of the club’s first choice left-back any more.

The report says Cresswell will start the season as first choice despite being 33 and entering the final year of his contract at the club.

Cresswell has called Masuaku ‘‘ in the past, but there is no real competition between the two players any more and new blood is needed.

We wrote earlier this year that David Moyes needs to make a left-back signing this summer, but so far that has not been forthcoming.

It seems the club have been focusing on other areas of the pitch, bolstering a squad which must compete in Europe for the second season running.

Masuaku looks set to stay part of that squad, and it will be up to him to show what he can do if he gets a chance, but an injury to Cresswell could provoke a change in the current transfer plans.
