Out of nowhere, the Manchester City legend was announced as a Real Sociedad player last night, angering the club’s sporting director Igli Tare.

The humiliation has steered the club towards West Ham’s Anderson, who signed for the Londoners for a reported £36 million, which may or may not have risen as high as £41.5 million ().

Anderson’s two years at the London Stadium have seen him make 67 appearances and score just 11 goals. He’s also made only 10 assists.

The Brazilian was initially very popular with the Irons faithful, but has struggled to be consistent for a large part of his time at the club so far.

TBR’s View – West Ham should entertain talks

David Moyes should consider selling Anderson back to Lazio, who sealed a return to the Champions League for 2020/21.

He cost a lot of money and he has only really shown glimpses of his ability in his two years in the capital so far.

For an experienced player, his return has been a little disappointing.

The Hammers would likely be unable to recoup their initial outlay, but maybe they can squeeze more out of Lazio than say, another club.

Perhaps a fee of around £25 million would be a decent deal for West Ham, which could then be reinvested by Moyes to strengthen other areas.

The club now have Jarrod Bowen in their ranks, and shifting the £85,000-a-week Anderson () off the wage bill would probably be preferable.
