Report: West Ham want Gonzalo Higuain on loan

West Ham have reportedly expressed an interest in Juventus attacker Gonzalo Higuain.

Sky Sports Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reported on his that the Hammers are keen on the South American.

It is understood that Manuel Pellegrini’s side have asked to take the 31-year-old on loan, Italian giants Juventus want around £36million for his permanent sale.

Higuain is a South American centre-forward that has 295 goals at club level, proving himself to be a natural finisher in both Spain and Italy.

The Argentine did spend the second half of last season out on loan at Chelsea, but he netted just five times in 18 games and struggled to really get to grips with the Premier League.

TBR’s View:

West Ham’s loan approach for Higuain seems a highly ambitious one, as he would have to ditch European football to join them and also have another crack in the Premier League.

He’s not a striker with great pace or physicality, but he’s got brilliant instinct around the penalty area and nobody can deny his goal record.

The centre-forward would guarantee goals if chances were laid on a plate for him and the Hammers have some excellent creators like Manuel Lanzini and Felipe Anderson.

It seems unlikely that West Ham can pull off a deal for him, but they do need a new striker before the start of the season.
