Report: West Ham shocked as Blackburn set £25m asking price for Adam Armstrong

West Ham have apparently been left shocked to learn that Blackburn Rovers want £25 million for Adam Armstrong this summer, .

Armstrong is on David Moyes’s radar after an outstanding season in the Championship. The 24-year-old has scored 19 goals, leaving him as the second-highest goalscorer in the division.

that Moyes has done personal checks to have a look at the striker. And it is claimed that the Irons had been hoping that £10 million may be enough to complete a deal.

However, the report suggests that Rovers want more than twice that amount. The Sun reports that they want £25 million, with 40 percent of any profit set to go to his former club Newcastle United.

It is noted that his contract expires at the end of next season – which is seemingly why West Ham have been left perplexed by Blackburn’s stance.

TBR View: West Ham must try to compromise before admitting defeat

The asking price does look to be steep given Armstrong’s contract situation. So it would be no surprise if the Hammers were planning to look elsewhere.

But before they do, the Irons should attempt to reach a compromise. He has scored 35 league goals since the start of last season. He does appear to have taken his game to another level over the last 18 months.

Rovers may prefer to lose him for nothing next year rather than sell him on the cheap this summer. The sell-on clause certainly appears to complicate the situation.

But if West Ham are prepared to increase what they will offer, Blackburn may be wise to consider dropping their demands.
