that despite the imminent signing of Nikola Milnekovic, West Ham have re-opened talks to sign Chelsea colossus Kurt Zouma. The France international is on the fringes at Stamford Bridge. West Ham had ended their pursuit, but are now back in talks for Zouma.
Zouma, 26, started for Chelsea on Wednesday night in the UEFA Super Cup as Thomas Tuchel’s side needed penalties to beat Villarreal. Zouma was part of a back three but substituted on 66 minutes. The German gaffer started a surprise back three of Zouma, Antonio Rudiger and Trevor Chalobah.
He had Cesar Azpilicueta, Thiago Silva and Andreas Christensen all on the bench. When it comes to Saturday’s opener against Crystal Palace, Tuchel is likely to go full strength and Zouma probably does not start. West Ham are looking to capitalise and have re-opened talks for the Chelsea star.

Zouma solves West Ham defensive issue, amid new talks
Even at a widely reported price tag of £25million (), Zouma would be a brilliant signing for the Hammers. West Ham have lost Fabian Balbuena and with David Moyes playing three at the back, he needs cover. Aaron Cresswell plays on the left, while there are three other options.
With the Europa League on the horizon, having three natural central defenders in a side that plays three at the back is clearly not sustainable. The Hammers need to add to Craig Dawson, Issa Diop and Angelo Ogbonna. Milenkovic is a good signing, Zouma would be even better.
While he would be an expensive outlay, West Ham could save money on his wages given he earns just £40,000 a week at Chelsea
