Report: West Ham might now cause Tottenham to miss out on £20m target

Rennes are reportedly interested in signing rumoured Tottenham target Kim Min-Jae, with the South Korean international being viewed as a replacement for new West Ham defender Nayef Aguerd.
, the Ligue 1 side are already closing in on the Fenerbahce star, with Renne’s technical director Florian Maurice already travelling out to Turkey to finalise the signing of Kim, who has been on Tottenham’s radar for some time.
that the centre-back has a release clause of £20m and that Tottenham have already made an offer to sign Kim, with Everton also in the race to sign the 25-year-old defender, who has been as ‘the South Korean Van Dijk’ based on his huge physical presence and defensive abilities.
Indeed, Tottenham looked strong favourites to sign Kim for most of this summer, yet it now looks like Rennes will win the race to sign the centre-back following the departure of Aguerd, with West Ham giving the French side the finances they needed to move for the Turkish Super Lig titan.
As per RMC Sport, though, Rennes are not the only French club interested in Kim, with Olympique Marseille also believed to be chasing the defender as a replacement for William Saliba, who returned to Arsenal last month and is expected to stay in north London for next season.
However, unlike Rennes, Marseille are yet to make an official move for Kim, yet for Tottenham, their lack of action in the past few weeks could now see Antonio Conte miss out on a player the club have been reportedly chasing for months.
Tottenham should be kicking themselves in Rennes sign Kim

Tottenham have been one of the most active clubs in the transfer window this summer, yet a centre-back would be a welcomed addition in north London if Conte is able to land the right player, which Kim certainly would be, yet it now looks like Rennes will be spoiling these plans.
Indeed, it is somewhat poetic that Tottenham could miss out on a target with money generated from West Ham, yet with Rennes moving fast to sign Kim, Spurs should be kicking themselves for missing out on the South Korean superstar, who could have been a welcome addition for the Premier League side this summer.
