Report: West Ham make offer for 12-goal talisman from Sevilla

West Ham United want Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri to replace Sebastien Haller who joined Ajax earlier this month,

The Hammers have tabled an initial offer of £22.5 million, with a £4.5 million add-on included in the deal.

West Ham are left with Michail Antonio as their only recognised senior striker in the wake of Haller’s departure.

As a result, David Moyes is desperately keen to bolster his attacking arsenal before the month is out.

Sevilla signed En-Nesyri a year ago in a deal worth £18 million. He has scored 18 goals in 50 appearances for the La Liga club and has caught the eye of West Ham.

The 23-year-old has been in fine form during the 2020/21 campaign, scoring 12 goals in all competitions – including four in the Champions League.

He fired a brilliant hat-trick during a recent 3-2 win for Sevilla over Real Sociedad and the Hammers hope to pounce.

En-Nesyri has also hit the net 11 times in 35 caps for Morocco during the early stages of his career.

Last season, the international helped to Sevilla to Europa League glory, coming on as a late substitute in the final against Inter Milan.

En-Nesyri earns £ at Sevilla and the deal as it stands looks like an affordable one for West Ham.

TBR View: Hammers must avoid another Haller situation

West Ham signed Haller on the back of 20 goals and 12 assists during the 2018/19 Bundesliga campaign.

Despite the sizeable outlay, it looked like a solid signing for a team desperate to score more goals.

Haller never worked out though and after 14 goals in 53 appearances, he was packed off to Ajax last week.

West Ham won’t want to be burned again and they’ll hope for better fortunes with En-Nesyri.

He is a man bang in form and hopefully, that should give him the confidence to arrive in London and start finding the net.
