Report: West Ham had the chance to sign ‘extraordinary’ PL player this summer but turned him down
West Ham United passed up the chance to sign Diego Carlos from Sevilla before he joined Aston Villa this summer.
In August, it was reported that Villa thought they had pulled off a real bargain signing Carlos and they were proud of their business.
Carlos has suffered a serious injury early in his Villa career, and during that absence, the manager who signed him, Steven Gerrard, has now been sacked.
The report that West Ham passed over the chance to sign Carlos before he made his move to Villa Park.

West Ham passed on Carlos
The Hammers did sign Nayef Aguerd and Thilo Kehrer to bolster their backline instead, and suffered bad luck when the Moroccan got injured early into his Hammers career.
But while David Moyes seems to have dragged his side out of their slow start to the season, Gerrard was unable to arrest the slump.
And the former Liverpool captain has paid with his job, meaning Carlos will have a new manager to impress by the time he returns.
Carlos has been labelled an ‘‘ player but has not had much chance to show his qualities in the Premier League yet.
That is a blow for Villa and perhaps something that Steven Gerrard will look back on and rue when reflecting on his reign at the club.
West Ham have successfully bolstered their defence and will be excited to see Aguerd back, even though that may come after the World Cup now.
