Report: West Ham goalkeeper Roberto could be sold in January
West Ham may reportedly offload goalkeeper Roberto in the January transfer window.
, the Hammers are contemplating selling the 33-year-old when the window re-opens in the New Year.
It is understood that the Spaniard could be replaced in January and a new shot-stopper signed.
The report explains that West Ham’s director of football Mario Husillos still feels that Roberto can be a success at the London Stadium, but there is concern within the club about his recent performances.
Roberto only joined West Ham in the summer on a free transfer and he’s been required in-between the sticks recently due to an injury to number one Lukasz Fabianski.
Roberto has looked shaky in defence so far and failed to win any of his six Premier League games.
He’s leaked 16 goals in eight games across all competitions so far this campaign and delivered a shocking display in the 3-0 defeat to Burnley at the weekend.
TBR’s View:
It would be no surprise to see Roberto offloaded in January, but West Ham would need a replacement already lined up.
His confidence has been completely wrecked after conceding six goals in the last two league games and supporters have already given up on him just months into his Hammers career.
He was always going to have a tough task backing up Fabianski and the drop off in quality has been major.
