Report: West Ham could try replace Sebastien Haller with Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud

West Ham are reportedly considering Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud as the man who could replace Sebastien Haller, who is being linked with a move away from the London Stadium.

, Dutch heavyweights Ajax are pushing to sign Hammers forward Haller for a deal worth in the region of £23million.

It is claimed that David Moyes’ side are already weighing up potential replacements before the 26-year-old has even departed.

The report states that West Ham are looking into how much it would cost to take Giroud from Premier League and London rivals Chelsea, with sources suggesting the player could leave during the January window.

Giroud, who earns £110,000-a-week (), is a left-footed centre-forward that has scored nine goals in just 15 games across all competitions this season.

The 34-year-old is not a nailed-on starter for Frank Lampard’s side and his contract at Stamford Bridge expires in the summer, plus he’s still got aspirations to play for France in the summer’s European Championships.

TBR’s View:

If Haller’s exit is sealed, West Ham must move quickly to bring in a replacement.

Moyes’ squad definitely need cover and competition in the striker position for Michail Antonio, who has already had injury problems this season.

World Cup winner Giroud remains an underrated attacker that can score goals at any level and he’d be a great addition to the West Ham squad.

But he’d surely need the guarantee of a permanent starting position if he was to move this month.
