Report: West Ham could take £2 million hit on £80,000-a-week player

West Ham United are reportedly willing to take a £2 million hit on Lucas Perez this summer.

The 2018 summer signing had a disastrous spell at the London Stadium after moving across the city from Arsenal.

The Spaniard struggled to achieve any kind of consistency and didn’t gain the trust of Manuel Pellegrini, as evidenced by the fact he was only handed six starts in all competitions in 2018/19.

Perez simply hasn’t been able to get going for West Ham, and it looks very much as though his short stint will soon come to an end.

the Hammers would like to recoup as much of the £4 million they paid Arsenal () for him as possible, but accept they might only get half that.

TBR’s view

West Ham are right to want rid of Perez, who has shown very little in Hammers colours.

He just doesn’t seem tailored to the Premier League.

For West Ham to be happy to take around £2 million for him really does say it all.

One thing that may not help matters though is the fact that Perez is currently on £80,000-a-week (), which could well put potential suitors off.
